BELOIT

The Rock County Board of Supervisors has yet to schedule a vote on extending an intergovernmental agreement between the City of Beloit, Rock County and the Ho Chunk Nation over the plan to build a casino in Beloit near Interstate 90.

On Monday night, the Beloit City Council unanimously approved extending the agreement until the end of 2024. The agreement first was approved in 2012 but had expired in 2022.

Rock County Administrator Josh Smith said by email that the Rock County Board of Supervisors will have to approve the extension as well. Smith said he will discuss the extension with Beloit City Council President Kevin Leavy, who also is chair of the Rock County Board.

At the end of April, Ho Chunk officials announced plans to break ground on the $400 million casino, hotel and conference center this fall at the corner of Willowbrook and Colley roads. The IGA includes details on land use and financial exchanges between Beloit, Rock County and the Ho Chunk Nation.
