BELOIT

Avid Pallet Services, a company created in 2002 by ABC Supply Co. to handle its steadily growing supply of shipping pallets, is having a new office building constructed at its 1416 Cranston Road headquarters.

According to the Town of Beloit, the building permit estimated the construction cost to be $850,000. The company did not return phone calls made by the Daily News asking about the expansion.

As an international distributor of roofing, siding and exterior building products, ABC Supply receives thousands of pallets annually. According to crunchbase.com, company officials started stockpiling pallets instead of paying to dispose of them.

In July 2002, Avid Pallet was founded to begin recycling the pallets. In 2008, Avid Pallet was divested from ABC Supply, making it a wholly owned subsidiary of Hendricks Holding Co. It's since been sold to a private ownership group.

Today, according to its website, Avid Pallet provides a number of pallet services. These include building new and custom pallets, heat treating pallets for international shipments, and picking up scrap pallets to be recycled or ground into mulch.

The company now has more than 100 employees and serves companies in a 200-mile radius from Beloit. And the future is bright. According to Future Market Insights, the wooden pallet market was $2.5 billion in 2023 and is expected to grow to $4 billion by 2033.

The contractor on the project is another Hendricks Holding company, Corporate Contractors Inc.
