BELOIT

A new Starbucks coffee shop may soon be opening on Prairie Avenue in Beloit.

A Certified Survey Map (CSM) and Conditional Use Permit request for outdoor seating and a drive-through area will be reviewed by the Beloit Plan Commission at its next meeting on Wednesday, June 5.

The proposed coffee shop is planned to be at 2660 Prairie Ave. The current zoning for the property is C2 — Neighborhood Commercial District, which would allow a business such as the coffee shop.

The development is proposed on a land area with 66,000 square feet of space. The development is being proposed by River Valley One LLC based in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, according to documents submitted to City of Beloit staff. Frederic Jacques is the applicant name on the documents submitted to the city.

If the plan commission gives a positive recommendation for the proposed development, it will be forwarded to the Beloit City Council for review.

The proposed Starbucks would join several other businesses on the Prairie Avenue corridor, including Thirsty Badger, McDonald’s and Scooter’s Coffee.

Beloit does have a Starbucks shop at 2791 Milwaukee Road, which opened in 2007.

There are 17,068 Starbucks shops across the United States in 3,103 cities. There are 176 Starbucks locations in Wisconsin and 621 locations in Illinois.
