BELOIT

Beloit Health System plans to establishment a new Neighborhood Hospital at its NorthPointe Health and Wellness Campus in Roscoe, Illinois.

Tim McKevett, president and CEO of Beloit Health System, said plans are to build out existing space above the ambulatory surgery center at NorthPointe where 10 private patient suites may be established. The health system also plans to get state approval to make its immediate care unit at NorthPointe a 24-7 emergency medical department. The Illinois Health Facilities Planning Board is scheduled to review the emergency department application in October, McKevett said.

The plans for the Neighborhood Hospital would provide more health care options to Illinois residents, while also helping to reduce patient room demand at Beloit Memorial Hospital. That would help in plans at Beloit Memorial Hospital to convert all patient rooms to private suites.

“We have eight to 10 Illinois patients at our hospital every day,” McKevett said. “This plan would allow for our Illinois patients to receive care closer to their homes.”

He said Beloit Memorial Hospital currently has 100 patient rooms. The health system plans to convert all patient rooms to private suite, which would result in 75 private rooms at the hospital. With the 10 private rooms at NorthPointe, the health system could offer 85 total private patient rooms to Stateline Area residents.

“Expanding to all private rooms underscores our commitment to providing the best possible patient experience,” said Dr. Roger Kapoor, Senior Vice President of Beloit Health System. “With these additional beds, we’ll be able to enhance privacy and reduce overcrowding.”

McKevett added that much of the equipment and services needed for a hospital already is in place at the NorthPointe campus, including lab and x-ray.

If approved, construction of the Neighborhood Hospital is scheduled to begin in 2025, with an anticipated opening in late 2026 or early 2027.

McKevett said the Neighborhood Hospital plan would result in the need to add about 25 staff members at the NorthPointe campus. The project also would employ construction workers in the area. McKevett said it was too early in the process to estimate how much the Neighborhood Hospital project would cost, but he said it would. be a substantial investment.
