Convenience store chain Kwik Trip started construction on a large distribution center near Madison, Wisconsin, in an effort to beef up sales in its Midwest store footprint.

Kwik Trip is building a 280,000-square-foot warehouse at 4848 County Road Vin DeForest, Wisconsin, with an estimated opening date of summer 2025, according to the company. It will supply 350 Kwik Trip stores.

Convenience store chains nationwide are rapidly expanding through new stores and industrial distribution facilities. The convenience store Iowa 80, which claims to be the world's largest truck stop, recently opened a new distribution warehouse in Walcott,

Kwik Trip operates about 860 stores in the Midwest, including this location in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota. (CoStar) Iowa. Casey's General Stores, Royal Farms and Sheetz are all expanding into new states through the construction of new stores.

Kwik Trip will own its new distribution center near Madison. It will be the company's second warehouse in addition to an existing facility at its headquarters at 1626 Oak St. in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Kwik Trip also operates a large kitchen facility at 2200 Palace St. in La Crosse to supply its stores with Kwik Trip-branded, ready-made foods. Kwik Trip is spending about $151 million to expand its bakery, commissary and dairy facilities, according to trade publication C-Store Dive.

In October, Kwik Trip acquired a former Midwest Security Life Insurance office building at 2700 Midwest Drive in Onalaska, Wisconsin, for $10 million. Kwik Trip plans to renovate the building for a new office.

Kwik Trip operates about 860 stores in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota, Illinois and Michigan.
